Santa Pola is a seaside town in the province of Alicante, situated on the bay bearing the same name, at the foot of a hill with a castle and a lighthouse. It is still an active fishing port, which can be seen in the daily life of the town and felt at the fish market and in the numerous establishments serving fresh seafood. Part of the coast and the areas around the town are protected as a natural park, with a system of salt lagoons that attract birds and nature lovers, and the beaches stretching along the bay have both sandy and more rocky stretches. Life in Santa Pola follows the rhythm of a seaside town that is neither a great metropolis nor a secluded village. There is a promenade, a marina, everyday commerce and the services needed for permanent residence, and at the same time its local, Mediterranean character has been preserved. The town lies close to Alicante, which makes it easy to reach the larger city and the airport, and from here one can also take a ferry to the island of Tabarca. Buying a house in Santa Pola means choosing a life close to the sea and the port, in a place that combines a tourist function with the everyday life of permanent residents. It is a proposal for those who value proximity to the beach, the natural surroundings of the bay and the lagoons, while at the same time wanting to have the full infrastructure of a town at hand and easy access to a larger center such as Alicante.
